- Innocence and simplicity have moved on to a new generation. They seem to have forgotten me, but I will not forget them.
- Boys had cooties and girls went to college to get more knowledge. The words were familiar, the faces were warm. Until one day, somehow, somewhere along the way, boys lost their cooties and girls lost their focus. A downward spiral. A loss of comfort, familiarity. Confusion. Confusion is the new innocence, as black was once the new pink. You forget what pink was, why it was happy. Why anyone was happy. Pain takes the place of simplicity, pulling your insides out and tearing you apart. Values are replaced and friends lose their place. Until, suddenly, in the blink of an eye, the world stops spinning and the pull stops. That split second is our own. That split second when the world is ours, we wish for one thing. We yearn for the pure and simple.
Poem 2
- Although you know it isn't right
- Smile bright, smile bright
- although a frown seeps through, so wide
- Push it down with all your might
- It isn't right, it isn't right
- Show them what they want to see
- There's never going to be a fight
- flash your smile big and bright
- Mask your fears, although you know it isn't right
